A laburnum was a type of tree. Once, when engaged in a philosophical discussion with the Rani and about how death was the essentially the conversion of animal into vegetative matter, the Sixth Doctor remarked that the Master would probably turn into a laburnum when he died. Laburnums, he pointed out, were poisonous. (TV: The Mark of the Rani) Laburnum are flesh eating balls of fur with legs and arms that live in caves east of Daventry. Laburnum is an assassin in the Department of Mary Sues. Laburnum was an old Redwall Abbey school teacher known for her vast knowledge on songs and rhymes, which she recorded in manuals. These manuals eventually found their way into the property of Sister Ficaria. However, they were all destroyed in a fire from her glasses magnifying the sun.
