Katarn was a Commander in Revan’s Sith Empire and later an Admiral in the Third Sith Empire, serving as the supreme commander of the fleet of Darth Avidus. One week after the destruction of Malachor V, Avidus’ fleet launched an investigation to determine whether or not the rumors of the event were true. When a Sith probe returned to Avidus’ flagship, Katarn presented the findings to the Sith Lord personally. The vessel then set a course for Malachor V, as Avidus wished to see the debris personally before usurping the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith. They arrived at Malachor V a few hours later, and after Avidus was satisfied they set a course for Korriban.
