Credit (Classic Journeys Era)
rdfs:comment
The primary currency used in the galaxy, the credit is accepted almost everywhere even if the planet in question has its' own currency. The credit is considered to be one of the most stable currencies in the galaxy, and is a medium-value currency, used as a base against which every other currency is gauged. The coins are minted in the denomination of 2 credits, 1 credit, a half-cred (50 cents), a quarter-cred (25 cents) and deci-creds (10 cents). They're made from a plasteel alloy, with the amounts stamped on both sides.

The primary currency used in the galaxy, the credit is accepted almost everywhere even if the planet in question has its' own currency. The credit is considered to be one of the most stable currencies in the galaxy, and is a medium-value currency, used as a base against which every other currency is gauged. The currency is similar to that of the American dollars of Earth, and is divided into credits made up of 100 cents. At least 50 percent of all existing credits exist in an elecronic form of some sort -- bank accounts, bonds, etc. Despite this, there is still a strong physical currency in use through-out the galaxy. There don't seem to be any bank notes, the credit existing only as coins (also referred to as cred-chips). The coins are minted in the denomination of 2 credits, 1 credit, a half-cred (50 cents), a quarter-cred (25 cents) and deci-creds (10 cents). They're made from a plasteel alloy, with the amounts stamped on both sides. There are also cred-chits, which are more similar to debit cards in that they allow the quick, easy transaction of credits in either direction. Once belonging to the Concordance of Free Worlds, there seems to be uncertainty as to who the credit belongs to now -- speculation would suggest that it belongs to the Solar Republic, but it could also belong to the galaxy in general.
