A triffid is a biological weapon used by the Russians in 1951. It is a plant that eats human flesh. Triffid seeds got dispersed all over western Europe after a Russian bomber was shot down by British fighters. The bomber was carrying over one million wh. Triffid is a monster in the MMORPG Elder Tale. The triffid is a highly venomous fictional plant species, the titular antagonist from the 1951 novel The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham and also later appears in Simon Clark's novel The Night of the Triffids. Triffids were also featured in the 1957 BBC radio dramatization of Wyndham's book, in a considerably altered film which was produced in 1962, and in a more faithful television serial which was produced by the BBC in 1981. The name may be related to the Trifid Nebula, a region of star formation originally named by John Herschel because it appeared to have three components, resembling a three-lobed flower in photographs taken in visible light. A Triffid is a carnivorous plant that can grow up to eight feet tall. They are ambulatory (can walk) and have some sort of intelligence which is not controlled by a brain. They have a lethal sting which can whip out to about eight feet or ten feet if they "Lean" forward. Triffids are genetically modified in Russia in the book Radio and 1981 TV Serial. They reproduce in he way all plants do and their seeds are released from a small hole in their "body" and are contained a green rough sphere which splits open to release thousands of small seeds, not unlike dandelion's, of which only 5% are fertile. The Triffids have long stings and presumably communicate through tapping of stems on their bodies. They can also move, albeit at a slow speed, and are carnivorous. As they are thought to have some intelligence, they usually attack the eyes and are good at quietly sneaking around or stalking their prey.
