The Dorvain General Election, 1870 was held on the 27th May 1870 to elect the Eighteenth Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 125 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. Edmonson's Royalists were highly popular due to their victory over Great Garnia and fulfilling all their promises. Many believed that Edmonson may not deliver on his promises to improve infrastructure in poorer areas with the money earned through fining Great Garnia, however to their surprise he did. Although he used the majority of the fine to further fund the military, he still invested in infrastructure on a level never before seen from a Royalist administration. Historians have labeled Edmonson's government as one of the first right-wing populist governments in power. He managed to appeal to what were before exclusively Democratic areas, winning a hug landslide in the process. Meanwhile Jason Webster, seeking a third non-consecutive term seemed lackluster in comparison, with many traditionally Democratic pledges already being delivered under Edmonson.
