Gyges is one of the three Hecatonchires. Having fifty heads and one hundred arms, massive, deformed creatures that are the sons of Ouranos and Gaia. Gyges is the brother of Briareus (also known as Aegaeon) and Cottus. Ouranos banished them to Tartarus for their appearance. They helped Cronus defeat Ouranos, only to be banished once again. The cycle completed itself once again, as they helped Zeus overthrow Cronos, and finally became the guards of Tartarus. Gyges is the name of a Hecatoncheir in Greek mythology. His brothers are Cottus and Briareus. He was the son of Ouranos and Gaia, but was found repuslive by his father due to his one hundred hands. Cronus, with the help of Gaia, overthrew Ouranos with the promise of freeing his brothers. However, he failed to fulfil this promise. Gyges and his brothers were freed by Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, for whom they made lightning bolts, a trident and a Helm of Invisbility. Gyges is a giant, deformed creature that is said to have 50 heads and 100 arms, multiple eyes. Gyges was one of the three Hekatonkheires. Gyges was a Lydian slave in the house of Lysistratos, serving as the majordomo.
