Henry Pfeiffer (b. 22 March 1881–d. 23 May 1992) was an American supercentenarian. He died at the age of 111 years, 62 days. Henry Pfeiffer (22 March 1881 – 23 May 1992) was a verified American supercentenarian. He was born in Posey County, Indiana, to parents Louis and Margaret Pfeiffer. The family owned a farm and towards the mid-1890s, the then 15-year-old Henry “quit school to pay off a debt.” Aside from farming, Henry also worked at a saw mill. In 23 October 1913, he married Matilda Willmann. The couple had at least 6 children; 3 daughters and 3 sons. In 1917-1918, he enlisted in the U.S. army when United States entered World War 1. He also enlisted in World War 2. Matilda died in 1977, just a few years before Henry’s centennial birthday. Subsequently, he lived alone in his house until at least age 105. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed reading the Bible on a daily basis. As far as the key to his longevity goes, he didn’t stop smoking until he became widowed. However, he was a hard-worker and lived for the day. Henry Pfeiffer died on 23 May 1992 at the age of 111 years, 62 days.
