Braud was born in St. James Parish Louisiana and came in his early teens, to New Orleans. He played violin and double bass and trombonelater. In New York City , he played in Wilber Sweatman's band before joiningDuke Ellington was going to play. His style of bass which he melody play, pizzicato and ironing alternated was an important aspect in the early ' Ellington Orchestra sound ' in the years 20 and 30. He died at the age of 75 in Los Angeles in the USA.
