By 2259, in the alternate reality, the Ketha Province had become an uninhabited region on the homeworld. In that year, the Starfleet traitor John Harrison fled there via transwarp beaming, after attacking Starfleet Headquarters on Earth. Although the crew of the USS Enterprise was ordered to fire seventy-two advanced long-range torpedoes on Harrison's location, Captain Kirk chose to arrest Harrison, instead of executing him without trial. Kirk took a K'normian trading ship down, hoping to quietly extract Harrison from the uninhabited region, but was waylaid by patrolling D4-class ships. Kirk sent Uhura to negotiate, but when the Klingons physically threatened her, Kirk went on the offensive. Harrison showed himself and killed all the Klingons, before surrendering himself into Kirk's custody. (Star Trek Into Darkness) In the prime universe, Chancellor Martok was born in the Ketha lowlands. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach") Ketha Province is a location on Qo'noS.
