John Van Boxmeer (born November 20, 1952 in Petrolia, Ontario) is a retired former professional player who has also served as a coach. He was the 4th pick, 14th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. Van Boxmeer asked to be traded as he could not crack the deep, talent-laden Canadiens lineup. Since retiring he has served as the head coach of the Rochester Americans and the Long Beach Ice Dogs, and has also been an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Kings. He served as head coach of SC Bern of Switzerland's Nationalliga A until march 2009.

n47:abstract
John Van Boxmeer (born November 20, 1952 in Petrolia, Ontario) is a retired former professional player who has also served as a coach. He was the 4th pick, 14th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. Van Boxmeer asked to be traded as he could not crack the deep, talent-laden Canadiens lineup. Van Boxmeer began his professional career by travelling to Moscow for the 1972 Summit Series - he only practised with the team as he was a fill-in for Jacques Laperriere. He spent his career with the Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Rockies, Buffalo Sabres and Quebec Nordiques. He played 46 games for Stanley Cup Champions Montreal Canadiens, but his name for some reason was left off the cup. Since retiring he has served as the head coach of the Rochester Americans and the Long Beach Ice Dogs, and has also been an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Kings. He served as head coach of SC Bern of Switzerland's Nationalliga A until march 2009.
