The Aboleths believe that the gods of evil came to be as a result of Y'chak's whisperings and Y'chak encourages the worship of those deities. Y'chak appears to those it contacts as a member of the same race, but its true form is said to be a brilliant pillar of violet flames that conceal an inner form which is to horrifying to see. To honor Y'chak, the aboleths build massive pillars of violet flame that burn underwater. Perhaps Y'chak is just another name for the Outer God Nyarlathotep[1], which is known from the writings of H. P. Lovecraft[2].
