Zelkin was a Zenetan Pirate who worked under Kcrackic and later Selto Durka. After Durka was killed by Rygel, Zelkin was left in charge of his pirate group. He accepted Rygel's proposal to provide use of the Flax for a sizable sum of money. Returning with Rygel to Moya, Zelkin discovered that the money they had been promised was no longer available. In response, Zelkin and his subordinate Kurz drew their weapons and tried to claim Moya. Aeryn Sun talked them out of it, noting that the Shadow Depository they orbited had more than enough currency to pay them all. Though Zelkin appeared to agree with this, during the attack on the Depository he revealed his true loyalty: Scorpius, using the flax to trap Moya for capture and holding Chiana at gunpoint. The arrival of Talyn and Bialar Crais brought this plan to an end as they destroyed Zelkin's ship, freeing Moya. Chiana used the distraction to go for Zelkin's gun. In the ensuing struggle, the weapon went off, hitting a surprised Zelkin. He died seconds later.
