The Barraki used them when they returned to land. Breathing apparatus was used in the Vorkosigan Saga whenever breathable air was scarce or non-existent. Three types of technology were specifically named as used for such purposes: * Rebreathers processed the air in space suits and were sometimes needed by people on the surface of Beta Colony. * Nose filters removed undesirable particles from the air before it went into the respiratory system. * Breath masks functioned much as modern breath masks do, by having a store of air. These were widespread in the Vorkosigan Saga.
