New Scotland Yard
rdfs:comment
Scotland Yard, officially New Scotland Yard, is another name for the Metropolitan Police Service and is also the name of the building where it has its headquarters. The name derives from the location of the original Metropolitan Police headquarters at 4 Whitehall Place, which had a rear entrance on a street called Great Scotland Yard. The Metropolitan Police Service is the territorial police force responsible for law enforcement in Greater London, excluding the "square mile" of the City of London which is the responsibility of the City of London Police. New Scotland Yard was the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, but became the Volgan Security H.Q.. It was used by the Volgan Secret Police as their headquarters when they occupied the United Kingdom in 1999. Scotland Yard (officially New Scotland Yard, though an Old Scotland Yard has never existed) is a metonym for the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police Service, the territorial police force responsible for policing most of London. The name derives from the location of the original Metropolitan Police headquarters at 4 Whitehall Place, which had a rear entrance on a street called Great Scotland Yard Situated opposite St James Street Station the present location of the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, where they moved in 1890. {More information on the Wikipedia page [1].
