Mace is one of the base weapon types in ADOM. Maces are one handed weapons belonging to the category. Maces, like many other types of weapon, can be made from one of four different metals — iron, mithril, adamantium or eternium. Iron maces have typical stats of (+0, 1d6+1), whilst eternium maces have typical stats of (+0, 2d6+8).

They are useful weapons until better ones are found, and like all generic weapons can be very useful if the player is lucky enough to find one with a particular powerful prefix or suffix. Regular maces do not compare well to other base weapon types, though. They are weak weapons with respect to their weight, being slightly less powerful than battle axes despite weighing more; maces can thus be poor choices for two weapon fighting, especially lower metal ones. Still, for those interested in weapon skills, maces share a class with powerful weapons such as the guaranteed Big Punch and rare maces of destruction; PCs wishing to wield these later in the game might want to practice with maces or flails early in the game to get the maximum benefit from them.
