Combat support tender
rdfs:comment
A combat support tender is a type of class 2 starship in the inventory of the United Federation of Planets Starfleet and other starfaring governments. It is often a purpose-built class of ship (e.g. Fjon-class, Pakokku-class) designed to accompany a task force during military engagements. Aboard a combat support tender are stores of tools, spare parts and (by the early 24th century) replicators, as well as technicians and engineers to aid in the repair and maintenance of capital and escort ships in that task force. Depending on mission requirements, they may have aboard alien technologies officers who are familiar with the technology of non-Federation civilizations.

As hospital ships are designed to handle casualties beyond the capacity of any one starship's sickbay, so are combat support tenders designed to effect repairs beyond the current or expected scope of a single starship's damage control teams.
