The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a television series that was originally broadcast in six episodes on the BBC in 1981. It was broadcast on a weekly basis on BBC 2, starting on 5th January, 1981. The series starred Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, David Dixon as Ford Prefect, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox and Sandra Dickinson as Trillian. The voice of the guide was provided by Peter Jones. The series saw a number of notable cameo roles, including Douglas Adams himself on several occasions.
