The Kusanagi is a rare saber. It can be found only in Episode 4, as a drop from a Dorphon on very hard difficulty only, for all section IDs. Kusanagi Ken (草薙(くさなぎ) 剣(けん)) is a scout character. Name: Kusanagi Origin: King of Fighters Gender: Male Age: Probably 26 (Was 18 in KOF 94´) (Same as Kyo) Classification: Illusion, Bearer of the Sacred Kusanagi flames, clone of Kyo Kusanagi made by Chizuru Kagura´s magic mirror who was being controlled by Botan. Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Fire Manipulation, Master of a martial arts style, Kusanagi is not immune to other types of fire he didn't create, Kusanagi can create fire from thin air, Kusanagi can fire a projectile of fire through the ground, Kusanagi can create a powerful pillar made of fire, Kusanagi can put his own body on fire without burning himself Attack Potency: Small City level (Via powerscaling to other characters) Lifting Strength: Unknown Stamina: High, can fight even while heavily injured Range: Standard melee range. Tens of meters with projectiles. Standard Equipment: His fighting gloves and his legendary Kusanagi Flames Intelligence: Very skilled combatant, fairly intelligent and has mastered the Kusanagi Martial arts, aside from Kenpo. Weaknesses: He is mentally insane and bloodlusted, he is also an illusion by Kagura Other: Kusanagi uses Kyo´s KOF 94´ and 95´ Moveset and Skills. Image:Masamune.gif The Kusanagi is a Light Blade that is found in the Debug Menu of the original Golden Sun. It is an Artifact that increases base Attack by 135. This weapon is impossible to access during normal play and can only be seen using a hacking device. It does not have an Unleash effect coded for it. This weapon's graphic is officially used in Golden Sun: The Lost Age for the Light Blade artifact Masamune. If it had been in the original game, it would have been the most powerful Light Blade, surpassing even the Kikuichimonji (assuming it would have had a proportionally strong Unleash effect coded as well). If this weapon is in the party in a Clear Data file and the file is transferred into The Lost Age, it will be replaced with the Masamune. He was believed by many fans to have been originally created as a NESTS experiment due to a special intro he has with K9999. This introduction is, in fact, a homage to Akira, as K9999 and Kusanagi have the same voice actors as Tetsuo and Kaneda, respectively. In KOF 2002: Unlimited Match he is a Kyo clone created by NESTS. He shares an ending with the other two Kyo clones; an incident in a cloning facility shows them being activated or destroyed. His canon backstory in The King of Fighters 2003 reveals him to be a product of Chizuru Kagura's magic, used to test the strength of the tournament's contestants. His evil appearance is possibly due to the fact that he was created by Chizuru while under the control of Mukai (the leader of the KOF 2003 operation) and Botan (the puppeteer controlling Chizuru). Its unknown to where Kusanagi is after the events of 2003, since he did not appear in its sequel KOF XI. His role in KOF Sky Stage and Neo Geo Heroes: Ultimate Shooting is similar to his 2003 counterpart, however he is sent by Chizuru to guard a certain area from any intruders such as the player. The player has to fight their way through Kusanagi in order to advance to the next level. He utilizes his moveset from previous games to launch projectiles or in some cases literal red flames at the player (even summoning white silhouette copies of himself to throw projectiles). His finisher is the Orochinagi which can send an entire wave of projectiles that can almost instantly kill the player's character. Kusanagi is the king of snakes and a master sowrdsman. Kusanagi is a recurring Katana-type sword. Appearing infrequently and rarely in prominent roles prior to Oct 2010 Revision, the authors apparently found out at that date that Amanomurakumo is a different name for the real-life Kusanagi katana, which in turn prompted them to imitate the Amanomurakumo from Final Fantasy XI in further incarnations and retcons of the Kusanagi, propelling it to a far more prominent and specified role.
