Amulet of order
rdfs:comment
Amulets of order are relatively rare items that, when worn, will slowly change your alignment toward lawful. Lawful PCs won't notice the effect apart from the slow alignment shift during normal play. Neutral PCs will feel the amulet itch around their neck every time an alignment "stone" is received, with no ill effects. Chaotic PCs will feel burning pain instead of an itch and take damage, which can be lethal - redemption does not come lightly for the wicked. Usually a chaotic PC who wishes to change alignment this way will periodically use herbs or spells to heal himself, or take the amulet off for a while so he will heal naturally. A regenerating item such as the ring of regeneration can be used to counter the periodic damage with its constant healing effect.

They are useful for lawful/neutral characters who wish to recover their alignment after performing chaotic deeds, or for anyone who wishes to shift their alignment towards lawful. Amulets of order do not reduce the impact of chaotic acts - that power belongs to the amulet of balance. Lawful champions who want to perform a chaotic act while retaining their status should turn to those, or refrain from committing the act at all.

As all methods of changing alignment this becomes less and less effective as the PC advances in experience levels, and will stop working altogether eventually. This point arrives much sooner for characters with the Tree star sign.

Aside from getting it as a random item from killing or pickpocketing a monster, you can get an amulet of order from Tywat Pare under certain circumstances. See the article for details. You can get it from Ice Queen. But since you can report the kill to sheriff who is way easier to reach, this method has no real applications. You will also receive an amulet of order if you become crowned as a lawful champion.
