If the player receives the strange box when they had a full inventory, the Mysterious Old Man instead teleported them to a maze. Ignoring the strange box resulted in spawning of even more strange boxes. The strange box only stacked when there were no available spaces for it to spawn another box into. Casting high or low alchemy on the box, dropping it, or banking it also caused another box to spawn. n13:abstract
If the player received the strange box when they had a full inventory, the old man instead teleported them to a maze. Effective on the 25 February 2009 update, all player-owned mystery boxes were automatically converted to Random event gifts and the Mysterious Old Man stopped giving them to players, which made the boxes a discontinued item. {| style="margin: 0 0 0.5em 1em; border:1px solid silver; background: white; max-width: 210px; float:right; font-size:90%; text-align:left" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="3" ! colspan="2" style="font-size:110%; text-align: center; background:#669999" | |- | colspan="2" align="center" | File:Strange Box.png |- valign="top" ! style="background:#B3CCCC; width: 75px" | Type | Interactive object |- valign="top" |- valign="top" |- valign="top" |} Strange Boxes are containers which spawn at the bottom of the Vile Library inside the Cradle of Eternity. When they are interacted with, they will either drop rewards or spawn a mimic which will attack the player. Whichever the outcome, it is completely random.
