Aurélie de Paladines was born in France in 2008. In 2057 she became first elected female president of the French Republic, and in 2062 she was elected for a second term with a great majority. In 2063, she led the Sixth Republic into the NEEC, a decision that the French aristocracy heavily criticized. In June 2063, Pascal Marat, the French foreign minister, one of Paladines' main political supporters and her potential political heir, was murdered by the Nationale Aktion in the so-called "AGE-Roland Garros-Attack", a bombing that also killed German ork tennis champion Paul Schneider and eight others.
