In 1943, RKO created Slugga the Sailor, as part of the Whistletoons series. Slugga's first cartoon "Infinity" was released on December 1943. The characters are ripped off from Paramount's Popeye the Sailor. The first cartoon was released in black-and-white, while the rest are in Technicolor. In 1947, Slugga the Sailor give their own series. The series lasted until 1960.
