Troubled Waters is a side quest in Fallout 4. Prior to an update on 27 April 2017, this track was unlocked at the Stronghold Slayer Cave. Troubled Waters written by Miranda Larson is the 6th episode of Series 9. Troubled Waters is a case featured in Criminal Case, appearing as the forty-third case of the game as well as the city of Grimsborough. It takes place in , a district based in Grimsborough. Fresh from his adventure with the Sky Pirates, Knuckles has acquired a rowing boat and is slowly making his way back to the Floating Island with a chest of documents. Having rowed halfway across the Mobian Channel, Knuckles' back is aching, but there is no time to rest. Suddenly, his boat is attacked by a long, tentacular Badnik, which is soon accompanied by seven of its friends. The robots smash up the boat, so Knuckles has to hurry and push the chest to the safety of a rock sculpture. Eager to get out of "arms" way and think of what to do, Knuckles climbs the stack, but is soon forced back into the water when the Badniks destroy it. Underwater, the Badniks force the echidna down for several minutes and his only chance of survival is breaking free and returning to the surface. Once up the

Supervisor White of Graygarden asked me to look into why the farm's water supply has been declining. I restored the water supply to Graygarden by restarting the old Weston Water Treatment Plant. OR Weston Water Treatment Plant has been flooded. If I want to restore the water supply to Graygarden, I'll have to get it up and running again. I angered the robotic residents of Graygarden by killing Supervisor White. Radio Freedom reported a strange message from a robot, asking for help from the Minutemen. I should go to Graygarden and find out what the trouble is. OR Preston Garvey has had a strange message from a robot, asking for help from the Minutemen. I should go to Graygarden and find out what the trouble is. I managed to restart the Weston Water Treatment Plant. I should report back to Supervisor White in Graygarden for my reward. Now that I've helped , I need to let Preston know the good news.

Once up there, Knuckles is joined by Captain Claw, presumably the master of the Mobian Channel. Connecting the eight Badniks to his Octonaught Badnik, Claw is ready to claim the (slightly lower than Sonic's) reward for Knuckles' capture. Eager to test out his vehicle, Claw encourages Knuckles to attack him and is excited when the Octonaught's underbelly electrocutes the echidna. Knuckles' next attack is then swatted away by one of the tentacles. Knuckles climbs another stack, but is forced to hop from one to another as Claw destroys them all with his gun. The final column is destroyed, giving Knuckles nowhere to go, but the rocks also fall on top of Claw, crushing his Octonaught. The hero is concerned about his chest, but is has somehow escaped the relentless destruction. Since the pair have no means of escaping the area with the Octonaught damaged, Knuckles orders the crab to grab an oar and start rowing his craft home.
