She trained at the Drama Centre in London and, prior to joining Coronation Street, made other television appearances in Our Time, Against All Odds and The Bill, and appeared on stage in Night Must Fall and Like a Virgin. Since leaving the role of Janice, she has returned to theatre with roles in Aladdin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Funny Peculiar alongside Craig Gazey, The Vagina Monologues, Sleeping Beauty, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice opposite Chris Gascoyne, and most notably as Madame Thenardier in the West End production of Les Miserables.
