The Battle of Kotov, also known as Operation:WHIPLASH, was a battle during the Saulosian campaign. It was the UNSC's first planned counterattack on Saulosian forces massed at the ruined colony of Eternal Sonata. However, the Saulosians learned of the buildup at Kotov and attacked the force before it was fully organized. In a desperate battle, the UNSC lost over half of the battlegroup, nevertheless inflicting heavy casualties on the Saulosians.
