Tashkent was a city in Uzbekistan. In 2004, Collette Stenger was wanted for criminal activities in Tashkent. ("Day 5: 8:00pm-9:00pm") Tashkent is a city of over 2,000,000 people in eastern Uzbekistan. It is the capital and largest city in the country. Tashkent, Uzbekistan became a sister city of Seattle in 1973, when it was part of the Soviet Union. The sister relationship was the first one between an American city and a Soviet one. Seattle's Tashkent Park is named in honor of this relationship; there is, correspondingly, a Seattle Park in Tashkent. Tashkent the capital of Uzbekistan, a population of 1,967,879 (estimated: 2006). Although it is not very ancient city, and it originated as an oasis near the foothills of the Golestan Mountains. Its location on the famed Silk Road made it a melting pot of many cultures and traditions from which the distinctive tradition and culture Taskent had emerged.
