Kaku Yamanaka (山中 かく Yamanaka Kaku) (11 December 1894 - 5 April 2008) was a Japanese supercentenarian. She died at the age of 113 years, 116 days. At the time of her death, Yamanaka was the sixth-oldest verified living person in the world, and the oldest person in Japan. She lived her last years at a nursing home in Yatomi, Aichi Prefecture. According to officials at the nursing home, Yamanaka loved singing and dancing. Following her death, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry of Japan reported that a 112-year-old woman from Okinawa Prefecture, was the nation's new oldest person. This turned out to be Kama Chinen.
