As the origin of the term Grimdark, it's no surprise that Warhammer 40000 is a setting positively drowning in Nightmare Fuel. And we wouldn't have it any other way. * If you want to save some time, just accept that the whole game, mythology and all, plus expansions and any backstory or novella you care to name, was most likely built using this trope as the blueprint.
