The Vortex Manipulator MK III, also known as the Vortex, is a futuristic device used by Time Agents and Kwiksilver. It allows the user to travel forward and backwards in time, and teleport. This is the third version. It was created in an alternate dimension from where Doctor Hickory comes from and was previously owned by somebody called Jack. The Time Agency duplicated them and they are a standard issue for Time Agents. Time Agents were each given a vortex manipulator. Vortex manipulators used and issued by the Time Agency were housed in leather wrist-straps with a covering flap, enabling the device to be worn conveniently by the Time Agent without drawing attention to the device itself. (TV: The Empty Child) Another Vortex manipulator, former Home Guard property, was obtained by Captain Lewis in 2017 when he and Eleanor were trapped on post-atomic Earth by the Captain's Mirror Universe counterpart. It was modified to take the pair into the Mirror Universe, where upon meeting Cassandra Green it returned all three to the primary universe and forward through time to Unity Starbase, after which it burnt out.(Star Trek: Unity (fan film series))
