The United States was founded in 1776 when the 13 colonies of the British Empire revolted against the Empire. With Byzantine/French aid, the Americans were victorious, and Benedict Arnold never defected because of his role in capturing Canada. But there were still problems - namely slavery - and the issue of States Rights, which increased after the Nova Hellena Purchase of 1803 from Byzantium with that of Louisiana from France in the same year. The native American issue, especially after Andrew Jackson vetoed the Indian Removal act, did not help things either, which were excacerbated after US soldiers were ordered to defend the Indian reservation.
