n5:abstract
Patricia "Pat" Marquard was an American biologist and astronaut who traveled to Minerva aboard the space shuttle Athena. She studied many areas of Minervan biology, including biochemistry and the planet's fossil record. She was also drafted by Sarah Levitt to assist in experiments to develop a medical technique to save eloca mates from death after they dropped their buds, and she put this technique to use to save Lamra. Marquard was married to Frank Marquard but was unsatisfied with their sexual relationship. She propositioned Irv Levitt while his wife Sarah was across the Ervis Gorge treating Soviet linguist Valery Bryusov for injuries sustained in an attack by a krong. After Frank's death, Pat felt guilty, but finally had sex with Irv Levitt.
