Julia Margaret Deakin (born 1952 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire) is an actress who played two parts in Coronation Street: the Secretary to Derek Wilton's boss in 1989 and Brenda Fearns from 2003 to 2004. With an extensive acting CV dating from the late 1970s, other credits include roles in Follow the Star, Birth of a Nation, Unnatural Causes, Vanity Fair, Casualty, Haggard, Boon, Wycliffe, Oh Doctor Beeching!, I'm Alan Partridge, Dalziel and Pascoe, Midsomer Murders, The Bill, Holby City, Coming of Age, House of Anubis, Scott & Bailey, Doctors and Big Bad World along with the feature films Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Down Terrace and The World's End. She also appeared in David Pownall's 1985 stage adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre. She is married to actor and author Michael Simkins.
