What is digestion
rdfs:comment
Digestion is the process by which larger materials are broken down to smaller by an organism. In humans, the process of digestion starts in the mouth, where we mechanically chew larger pieces into smaller and wet them with saliva which contains amylase which starts to break down sugars. The stomach and intestines contain acid which further break food down as well as a mechanical action which moves the food around down the intestines. The food digested food gets absorbed into the organism, in humans, through the intestinal wall.
