Alexander was considered one of the great entertainers in Germany. For many years, he hosted various television variety shows, including Peter Alexander präsentiert Spezialitäten, a show that featured special guest appearances by several characters of Sesame Street in 1975, and The Muppet Show in 1977, taped at the original locations of both shows. Peter Alexander (born 15th October 1952) appeared in three roles in Coronation Street: * A Car Salesman who took Fred Gee for a test drive in February 1982. * Car park owner Bill Dixon in June 1993. * Colin Lavender, the Mayor of Weatherfield, in May 2012. He has also appeared in Minder, EastEnders, several parts in Heartbeat, Doctors and irregular roles in Emmerdale and The Bill. On stage he has appeared in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Peter Alexander (* 30. Juni 1926 in Wien; † 12. Among these roles, he has also appeared in Heartbeat, The Royal Today, Minder and Medics. Peter returned to Emmerdale in 2006 as a completely different character - the character of Ben Smith.
