Desert clothing
rdfs:comment
When worn, desert clothing decreases the desert heat effect of the Kharidian Desert. However, even with desert clothing, a tome of frost, waterskins or an enchanted water tiara are needed to avoid taking any damage when crossing the desert by foot, although fewer waterskins are needed when travelling with desert robes as they provide more protection. During the quest Shadow of the Storm, players can dye these robes black with mushroom ink. The boots, however, cannot be dyed. The black desert robes provide no protection against the desert heat. Desert clothing is a set of clothes designed for use in desert. There are two instances of the item defined in the rules. In Dark sun, desert clothing costs 10 gp, weighs 3 pounds, and gives a +1 item bonus to endurance checks to resist environmental hazards, and is technically vaguely worded to include any environmental hazard. [DSCS:123] In Mordenkainen's Magnificent Emporium, desert clothing is part of the Traveler's kit, costs 5 gp, weighs 4 pounds, and gives a +2 bonus to endurance checks to resist heat or avoid effects of persistent dust or sun glare.[MME:125] Without desert clothing, a player needs water every 90 seconds. With a full set of desert clothing, a player needs water every 120 seconds.

n15:abstract
When worn, desert clothing decreases the desert heat effect of the Kharidian Desert. However, even with desert clothing, a tome of frost, waterskins or an enchanted water tiara are needed to avoid taking any damage when crossing the desert by foot, although fewer waterskins are needed when travelling with desert robes as they provide more protection. Without desert clothing, a player needs water about every 90 seconds. With a full set of desert clothing, a player needs water about every 120 seconds. The only other clothing to provide protection is the desert outfit, though it is not as effective.
