She feels trapped by reality until her imagination takes her into an enchanted labyrinth where she meets a faun who agrees to help her. Ofelia is determined to save her mother and her unborn brother from Vidal's wicked clutches. She is transported into the magical world where she takes on a giant toad and escapes from a child-eating monster, the Pale Man. La pintura Ofelia del británico John Everett Millais, muestra la muerte de Ofelia de la obra Hamlet de Shakespeare, que perdió la razón luego de la muerte de su padre Polonio, un día subió a la rama de un sauce, esta rama se quebró y ella cayó al río y muere ahogada. Este cuadro representa ese momento. Millais utilizó como modelo para esta obra a Elizabeth Siddal, futura esposa de su colega Dante Gabriel Rossetti, para representar el ahogo en el río, la hizó posar en un bañera que en pleno invierno estaba muy frio, por lo que debió calentar el agua, colocando por velas debajo de la bañera. Uno día las velas se apagaron y ni el pintor, ni la modelo se dieron cuenta de ello, por lo que la modelo enfermó debido al frio del agua. El pintor tuvo que indemnizar a la familia de la modelo por este hecho. Hoy esta pintura se encuentra en el Museo Tate Britain de Londres. In her imagination, Ofelia is reborn as a princess.
