Chaos energy is highly dangerous; some believe it actually is equivalent to arcane magic, although it can be harnessed by tinkers. Thought at first to be magical, as it can sometimes mimic the effects of arcane magic, chaos energy is purely mechanical in nature. Chaos energy is generated through the use of devices called chaos generators. A small box contains magnets, several differing kinds of metal, steam energy and a tiny golden core that vibrates at a high frequency when powered. Political maneuverings by wizards in Theramore have caused the ruling body to declare chaos generators unlawful, but the goblins and some gnomes still manage to research and develop new uses for chaos energy. The Horde hasn't outlawed the usage yet, as it is not arcane magic, but they are suspicious of it beca Chaos Energy (or just Chaos as an element, not a God of Destruction) is the energy that makes the Chaos Emeralds so powerful. Each Chaos Emerald generate this energy which can be used to perform Chaos Control and other various abilities as well as the ability to be used as a power source. This power can be controlled by the Master Emerald, if requested or commanded by its guardian. Chaos Energy is a highly powerful form of energy able to warp space and time when properly utilized. This energy can be used for super transformation, to perform Chaos Control and various other abilities, or as a power source for machines. This power can be controlled by the Master Emerald, if requested or commanded by its guardian. The Chaos Emeralds, including the Master Emerald, have been used before to charge Super States or Eggman's weapons of destruction on many occasions (e.g. Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where Dr. Robotnik steals the Master Emerald to charge the Death Egg). The energy from the Master Emerald is mostly used to keep Angel Island floating in the air. Esta energía puede ser utilizada para super transformación, para llevar a cabo un Chaos Control, y otras capacidades, o como una fuente de energía para las máquinas. Esta potencia puede ser controlada por la Master Emerald. The explosive Chaos Energy was harnessed by the Wise Ones, who fashioned it into seven crystalline gems known as the Chaos Emeralds. They were promptly stolen by Knuckles (and later, by Sonic), who found that they had the ability to turn anyone "super". Sonic used them to become Super Sonic, which made the Wise Ones afraid. They locked the Chaos Emeralds away into an alterdimensional labyrinth called the Special Stage, but Sonic and his friends found the Emeralds anyway. Ever since then, the Chaos Emeralds have been tossed from foe to foe, causing conflict all over Sonic's home planet, Mobius. They both use it to brainwash people via their Chaos Bakugan. Chaos Energy is also created when Mechtogan are spawned, since they are made from chaos. It was also revealed that fear can produce Chaos Energy too seen in Interspace Under Siege. Eventually, the chaos energy generated in Interspace and in New Vestroia gave Mag Mel enough energy to break free of their prison in A Hero Returns. In Dangerous Beauty and Unfinished Business, Mag Mel killed his own subordinates, Sellon and Anubias to absorb their energies, that combined with the Gate and Key he and Razenoid have, he was finally reborn. Chaos energy, also known as Emerald forces, is an unstable, yet powerful energy that each Chaos Emerald generates by turning thoughts into power in the games and Sonic X, or by drawing it from the Chaos Force in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. This energy can be used for super transformation, to perform Chaos Control and various other abilities, or as a power source for machines. This power can be controlled by the Master Emerald, if requested or commanded by its guardian. Prior to the Great War of Mobius over 8,000 years ago, the Drakon Empire developed an unstable energy source, but the "Chaos" energy was too unsafe to use. In order to find a capsule for the energy, the Drakons supposedly began spying on a number of planets, Mobius one of them. They observed the native echidnas for some time until they knew exactly what they wanted. A military squadron subsequently invaded Mobius and took control of the echidnas' sacred Emerald mines. By digging up and using these precious gems, the Drakons utilised their technology to transfer the Chaos energy into the Emeralds. This not only stablised the energy, but gave them the means to control and use it.

As the Chaos Emeralds are perpetual power sources, they can be used to power various machines or technology. Like batteries, the emeralds have positive and negative polarity. The positive energy is primarily used by Sonic and his friends to transform into their Super States while the negative energy is used by villains for their powers and transformations. Chaos Energy is a highly powerful form of energy able to warp space and time when properly utilized. The energy from the Master Emerald is mostly used to prevent Angel Island from falling. Chaos Energy is the type of energy released by the Chaos Emeralds. Chaos Energy impacts machinery that is not specially designed to use it negatively, causing it to go out of control - as if it has a mind of its own. There are those that can tap into this energy to use Chaos abilities (Chaos Control, Chaos Blast, etc.) This energy can be used for super transformation, to perform Chaos Control and various other abilities, or as a power source for machines. This power can be controlled by the Master Emerald, if requested or commanded by its guardian. By digging up and using these precious gems, the Drakons utilised their technology to transfer the Chaos energy into the Emeralds. This not only stablised the energy, but gave them the means to control and use it. Fearing that the Drakons could transfer their Chaos energy into a thousand Emeralds and conquer the galaxy, Pochacamac stole the seven "Chaos Emeralds" and kept them within his Megopolis City home. The Drakons were furious and chased the echidnas down, meaning to retrieve their Chaos energy. An initial battle arose, beginning the Great War. A number of Prosecutors and Sentinels attempted to steal back the Emeralds but inadvertantly ended up creating the Chaos monster, the product of the unstable Chaos energy merging with a captured Prosecutor fish. Eventually, the Drakons were defeated and the Chaos Emeralds remained on the Floating Island, protected by Knuckles the Echidna.
