The Young Guard was a group of Jedi Apprentices that were perceived as gifted and were deemed likely to someday "be one of the Order's brightest lights." It was thought to have been highly likely that they would later join the Jedi Council and had been described as "the next Mace Windu or Obi-Wan." They were commonly referred to as this throughout various points of the history of the Jedi Order and including the New Jedi Order.
