Peter Ochs is the Edgar M. Bronfman Professor of Modern Judaic Studies at The University of Virginia, where has served since 1997. He has held teaching positions at Drew University, Colgate University, and the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as visiting lectureships at Hebrew Union College and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He has held teaching positions at Drew University, Colgate University, and the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as visiting lectureships at Hebrew Union College and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Ochs holds a Ph.D. and B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Ochs is an influential thinker whose interests include Jewish philosophy and theology, modern and postmodern philosophic theology, pragmatism, and semiotics. He is cofounder of the Society for Scriptural Reasoning, which seeks to bridge the gap between faith and reason in scriptural interpretation, and the Children of Abraham Institute.
