Liberalia, officially the Republic of Liberalia is a city state located off the coast of California, United States. It was established in 1983 by the National Progress Party. It claims to be a democracy, but in practice is a dominant party system. Liberalia developed a distinctive identity, in that, most citizens of Liberalia did not considered themselves American, but Liberalian. This increased tenfold when Mayor James H. Rubinstein was elected into office. He established the National Progress Party, the dominant party today and the party responsible for bringing independence to Liberalia.

Liberalia, officially the Republic of Liberalia is a city state located off the coast of California, United States. It was established in 1983 by the National Progress Party. It claims to be a democracy, but in practice is a dominant party system. It lies just west of San Luis Obispo and is connected to the continental United States by the Walters-Wright Bridge, which is the only place to legally enter the country. Liberalia is highly urbanised and no farms or agricultural lands exist on the island. There is a large national park located on the northern end of the island, Orvis-Vallejo National Park. The island was first inhabited by various Native American tribes, but they did not stay long. Eventually it was became first part of Alta California, then the California Republic and finally the State of California. The first American settlement on Liberalia was in 1850, during the California Gold Rush. Eventually, Liberalia became a large industrial city ultimately growing into the size it is today. Liberalia developed a distinctive identity, in that, most citizens of Liberalia did not considered themselves American, but Liberalian. This increased tenfold when Mayor James H. Rubinstein was elected into office. He established the National Progress Party, the dominant party today and the party responsible for bringing independence to Liberalia. The country possesses the fourth largest financial centre and is considered a middle power. Liberalia is a member of the G20 and many other international organizations.
