Flare Platoon is an elite unit of the New Republic Special Forces 3rd Regiment, which specializes in urban combat. Although platoons are traditionally designated numerically in SpecForce, Flare Platoon has earned the honor of being given an actual name thanks to their many accomplishments. They also differentiate themselves from other platoons thanks to a tradition that every member receives a nickname while a part of Flare. This was started by Flare Platoon’s founder, Clara Molariou, who had a penchant for giving nicknames to other people. In fact, the platoon itself is named in Clara’s honor since Flare was her nickname while a part of SpecForce.

They also differentiate themselves from other platoons thanks to a tradition that every member receives a nickname while a part of Flare. This was started by Flare Platoon’s founder, Clara Molariou, who had a penchant for giving nicknames to other people. In fact, the platoon itself is named in Clara’s honor since Flare was her nickname while a part of SpecForce. The platoon got its start during the Xen’Chi War where it became common practice for missions to have terrible odds against the invaders. Under Clara’s command, the Flares actually thrived while attempting what was often thought to be impossible. As the war came to a close, Clara retired from military service, but the name of the platoon stayed and their reputation for getting the impossible done remained.
