Yggdrasill, the Great Tree of Aselia, is found in the Forest of Spirits, which is the South Forest below Toltus in the present. Guarded by the Tree Spirit Martel, it is the source of mana from which magic and Spirits are born. By the beginning of the story, the tree is dead, leaving magic to be all but lost in the present. Some people of the Kingdom of Euclid also worship Yggdrasill as the Earth Spirit (大地の精霊 Daichi no Seirei?). When Cress Albane and Chester Burklight hunt in South Forest, Cress has a vision of the tree in its healthy state and of a woman who pleads to not defile the Tree. World Tree (pol. Drzewo Świata) odnosi się do dwóch słynnych drzew w Azeroth: * Nordrassil, oryginalne Drzewo pobłogosławione aspektem smoka, * Teldrassil, drzewo stworzone przez Nocne elfy w nieudanej próbie przywrócenia mu mocy nieśmiertelności, * Idrassil to koncepcja artystyczna, którą można odnaleźć w sztuce i rysunkach o World of Warcraft. The World Tree is what remains of Ganishka's ascended body after Griffith killed him with the power of the Skull Knight's Sword of Actuation, a giant tree that consists of two immense, arching trunks that intertwine with branching reaching up to every part of the sky. It is directly underneath this tree that the city of Falconia sits. World Tree, po polsku Drzewo Życia to kluczowa lokacja występująca w grze Heroes Chronicles: The World Tree. Elfy nazywają to miejsce Korzeniami Życia. The World Tree is a location in Antagarich that appears in The World Tree, the fifth part of Heroes Chronicles. Legends say that it is the source of all life. The Immortal Hero Tarnum was woken in the middle of the night by a cry from the Ancestors, telling him to "Save the World Tree". He knew that according to legend, the World Tree was the source of all life in the world, but he didn't know where it was or what it looked like. But he felt compelled to travel northeast, and eventually found the remnants of a barbarian tribe guarding the secret caves in a nearby mountain. Some necromancers had recently fought their way into the caves and never returned, so Tarnum led the tribe after them. The world tree is a motif present in several religions and mythologies, particularly Indo-European religions, Siberian religions, and Native American religions. The world tree is represented as a colossal tree which supports the heavens, thereby connecting the heavens, the earth, and, through its roots, the underground. It may also be strongly connected to the motif of the tree of life. A gargantuan tree fills the sky. Usually situated in a breezy land of snow and ice or a sprawling forest or maybe even a green, green field. It can be seen from miles away... This is a very old archetype, one that spans the ages and cultures. It has been called Yggdrasil, the Axis Mundi, and The Tree of Life among other names. Many works of fiction have embraced it quite thoroughly. The World Tree may exist between worlds, with its roots in one and its branches in another. It may even be a Wood Between The Worlds. It's naturally a Genius Loci. See also The Tower. Examples of World Tree include: The World Tree is a sacred tree located on a farm in Virginia where Shadow holds vigil for nine days over Mr. Wednesday's body. The World Tree was a sentient tree-like cosmic structure in the World Tree cosmology model that connected all of the Celestial planes to each other, from its roots in Dwarfhome and Arvandor, its lower branches in Greenfields, the House of the Triad and Dweomerheart, its main trunk along the House of Knowledge, Golden Hills and Brightwater, and at the top was the Gates of the Moon. Normal planar travel used the Astral plane to pass from the Prime Material Plane to one of the other Outer planes and all inter-planar journeys had to pass through the Prime Material nexus. Angelic servants of the good deities used the tree as a kind of "celestial ladder" to avoid having to go through the Prime Material plane, although the tree did not enjoy being used as such. Mortal travelers would often meet t The «World Tree» (世界樹, Sekaiju?), known as «Yggdrasil» (イグドラシル, Igudorshiru?) in ALfheim Online's lore, is the massive tree growing at the center of the land of Alfheim. Long ago, the Black Mage tried to rob the World Tree of her powers, but she escaped and retreated to the Root Abyss to recuperate. However, she was found by a commander of the Black Mage, Damien, who sent his generals to taint the area in order to keep her trapped inside. After the Alliance found her, they realize that something is keeping the World Tree at bay despite all the methods of escape being used. After defeating Damien's generals, the World Tree requests to see the world, since she has been underground for so long and has not been able to see the surface. However, the Alliance convinces her to rest in , as they both know she will be safer there. Upon arriving, the World Tree disappears into Shinsoo's crown jewel. In the beginning there was nothing but an endless Chaos that expanded forever. There was no good or evil, light or darkness, creation or destruction; just endless Chaos. At one point something happened; a single space within the Chaos expanded and a small seedling sprouted. The Chaos, not liking this new existence, tried to engulf it but the space just continued to expand. Eventually so large that the seedling became a mighty Tree. But that was not the end of the expansion. It continued to grow, spreading the Chaos into a thin layer. Nordrassil, which means "Crown of the Heavens", was the original World Tree planted on the summit of Mount Hyjal after the War of the Ancients. It was blessed by the Dragon Aspects to grant immortality to the night elves and to allow their druids to enter the Emerald Dream. The power was unleashed after the Battle of Mount Hyjal.

The World Tree's creation is ground zero of the World Transformation, explained by Gedfring to be the source of the global interstice linking both the physical and Astral planes. He describes it as a great fissure, a borehole into the earth similar to the spaces created by Behelits, and also says that its growth is being stymied by the spirit trees to prevent its branches from cloaking the world. The «World Tree» (世界樹, Sekaiju?), known as «Yggdrasil» (イグドラシル, Igudorshiru?) in ALfheim Online's lore, is the massive tree growing at the center of the land of Alfheim. The Tree seems to represent the connection that all living things have. It is present when two people make a promise. It is also present just beyond life, where all souls come together. (So it can also represent Eternity.) If something happens to the World Tree, often a new one will be born from a seed; representing rebirth. Compare Ouroboros. Of course, anything this spiritually significant is very popular to produce evil versions. Evil World Trees often pervert the concept of "oneness" by subverting promises and spiritual connection into absorbing everything into itself. The World Tree may exist between worlds, with its roots in one and its branches in another. It may even be a Wood Between The Worlds. It's naturally a Genius Loci. See also The Tower. The health of the World Tree is tied to that of the world itself; injuring it may have catastrophic consequences. Examples of World Tree include: Yggdrasill, the Great Tree of Aselia, is found in the Forest of Spirits, which is the South Forest below Toltus in the present. After traveling to the past, the Wind Spirit Sylph asks the party to see Yggdrasill. When they reach the Great Tree, Martel warns them that Yggdrasill's death is near. Normally, Yggdrasil would be able to handle the mana drain that comes with the use of magic, but some source is consuming so much mana that it is killing the Great Tree. The party resolves to stop Yggdrasill's death, as the loss of Tree would mean the loss of magic and their only hope of defeating Dhaos. Mint Adenade thinks that she might be able to heal it with her divine power, but her spells are not strong enough. When Dhaos attacks Midgards, their engineers fire their magitech cannon to eliminate some of Dhaos's minions. After its firing, Martel states that mana is fading, the first hint as to what the mana depletion she warned the party about is. After Dhaos flees the past, the party discovers a way to travel through time to chase after him. Before they leave, however, Mint reminds them that they need to save the Great Tree first. After discussing the issue with various people, Mint remembers a conversation with her mother, Meryl Adenade, about how the Unicorn is the sign of a healer and would help boost her powers. They track the unicorn to the White Birch Forest, where, after explaining the situation and defending it from Dhaos's minions, Mint is gifted the "Unicorn Horn", formed from the unicorn's own body. With the power of the Unicorn Horn and her own strength, Mint manages to revitalize Yggdrasill, providing it with life for a while longer. It is at this point that Claus outright states that magitech is probably the cause of the severe mana drain. When in the future, the party visits Yggdrasill once more. Martel awakens and tells them that the Great Tree is still all right because one day mana consumption returned to normal. She tells them about a handsome man with golden hair who watched over her as she slept. When Martel leaves, Dhaos arrives and it seems as if it would come to blows, but he refrains from battling in order to not harm Yggdrasill. At the end of the story, Dhaos reveals his reasons for what he did: he wanted a Mana Seed to revive his world of Derris-Kharlan. After his defeat, the party gathers in front of Yggdrasill to discuss this revelation. Martel reveals that Dhaos needed a Mana Seed, which would allow a new tree to be born, to revive his world, but the development of magitech was killing Yggdrasill, so he fought a war to halt magitech and protect the tree. Deciding that, even if his methods were cruel, his intentions were pure, and that humans did not need magitech, Mint erects a barrier around Yggdrasill to protect it from too much mana being drawn in order to create the Mana Seed Dhaos so desired. Using Yggdrasill's gathered mana, Martel creates a Mana Seed to give to Derris-Kharlan. World Tree, po polsku Drzewo Życia to kluczowa lokacja występująca w grze Heroes Chronicles: The World Tree. Elfy nazywają to miejsce Korzeniami Życia. World Tree (pol. Drzewo Świata) odnosi się do dwóch słynnych drzew w Azeroth: * Nordrassil, oryginalne Drzewo pobłogosławione aspektem smoka, * Teldrassil, drzewo stworzone przez Nocne elfy w nieudanej próbie przywrócenia mu mocy nieśmiertelności, * Idrassil to koncepcja artystyczna, którą można odnaleźć w sztuce i rysunkach o World of Warcraft. Eventually, from each of the Tree’s many branches and roots many worlds came into existence (Heaven, Earth, the Underworld, etc.). From each of these worlds beings started to be born. Even outside the worlds beings came into existence (Ophis, Great Red, etc.). Mythologies were born, many which the Tree gained a name from. Specific world trees include the one in Hungarian mythology, Yggdrasil (or Irminsul) in Germanic (including Norse) mythology, the Oak in Slavic and Finnish mythology, and in Hinduism the Ashvattha (a Sacred Fig). Mortal travelers would often meet treants and dryads sent to prevent their passage. However, if their intentions were noble enough the tree usually allowed them to pass unhindered. The World Tree was destroyed in 1385 DR by the Spellplague. The World Tree is a sacred tree located on a farm in Virginia where Shadow holds vigil for nine days over Mr. Wednesday's body. The World Tree also created the Tower of Oz, based off her favorite story The Wizard of Oz, long ago to preserve the natural ecosystem of the creatures living on Maple World when the Black Mage started corrupting them. However, as time passed, the tower became corrupted and affected the monsters, including the tower's guardians. For some reason, the World Tree split her soul into the Tower and her main body resides in Root Abyss. The soul requests maplers to purge the tower from evil. In the future, Cygnus was overly obsessed with the World Tree and sought to find it. She eventually did, but it was actually a trap laid by the Black Mage. Cygnus and her knights became corrupted and Ereve crashed onto the surface of the world. Her forces then began to proceed in overtaking Maple World. Shinsoo of the present reassures that that is only a dream created by the Black Mage using the Dream Stones, and the future is not as depicted as it is, as Maplers from the past stopped the Cygnus from the future. Tarnum sent letters to the five wisest shamans in the area, asking them what the World Tree was and where he could find it. None of them could help him. From a captured necromancer's apprentice, Tarnum learned that the undead had come do destroy the World Tree - the undead despise all living things, so they wanted to strike at the living by destroying that which had given life to the world. Later, Tarnum learned that the necromancers were allied with the barbarian followers of Vorr, one of the Ancestors who had gone insane. Heading deeper underground, Tarnum eventually came across a strange cavern filled with trees, grass and flowers, even though they were deep underground and there was no sun or rain. Addar, Tarnum's shaman, guessed it was due to the influence of the World Tree. They encountered an elf named Nilidon, who had come to help Tarnum save the World Tree. The elves had known about the World Tree for a long time, and had been its protectors before the job had passed on to the Ancestors. Tarnum asked him where he could find the World Tree, and Nilidon told him he was inside it. Nilidon explained that Tarnum's confusion came from the inaccurate barbarian translation of the elven name - the elves called the World Tree "the Roots of Life", and the tunnels of the secret caves were like the veins of the World Tree. While Tarnum had been battling the necromancers, they had been spreading a blight on the plants and scorching the rich soil, destroying the World Tree from within. Realizing that the necromancers were closer to their goal than he had believed, he gathered his armies and drove both Vorr and the undead from the World Tree. "When Tarnum came across a tiny flower growing out of the cracked, scorched earth, he knew the World Tree would recover from the damage done by the Necromancers."
