Bastille Day Bastille Day
rdfs:comment
"Bastille Day" is the first song from Rush's third album Caress of Steel. The music was written by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson and the lyrics were written by Neil Peart. It is about the storming of the Bastille in the French Revolution. Bastille Day was last played on the Moving Pictures Warm-Up Tour; however, it made a re-appearance on the R30 CD and DVD as part of the instrumental "R30 Overture". "Bastille Day" is also the first track on Rush's "All the World's a Stage" Live Album as well as the sixth on their Retrospective I (1974-1980). Bastille Day is a French holiday celebrated on July 14th each year to honor France's surrender to other countries in every war in which France participated. It is tradition that, on Bastille Day in France, the cowardly French leave their caves and come out of hiding in order to destroy the private property of others. Destroying others' property allows the French to celebrate their socialism and cowardice while simultaneously demonstrating their contempt for capitalism and ownership rights. The Bastille Day is a national holiday in France, that is celebrated on 14 July to commemorate the events of the 1789 French Revolution. In the 1987 TMNT cartoon, much of the episode Tower of Power is set on this date. [[en:]] Catégorie:Episodes

The first verse contains a reference to the infamous phrase, "Let them eat cake", a historical legend, which nevertheless found many believers.
