The Death of Art
rdfs:comment
The Death of Art is a Doctor Who New Adventures novel (published May 1996 by Virgin Publishing) by Simon Bucher-Jones which borrows some imagery from The Yellow Mythos, although the story itself has very little to do with it, despite the reappearance of the companion Ace from 'The Curse of Fenric', one of the Wolves of Fenric. The book opens with Naotalba's Song. The story largely takes place in Paris, although there is a brief section with Charles Dickens, in London, involving a poem in the Daily News and an encounter with an offended toy-shop owner named Montague. In 1996, The Death of Art was released by Virgin Books. The Death of Art is the 21st and final mission in Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven.

The Death of Art is the 21st and final mission in Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Elements in the story include: * The Dreyfus Affair * A toyshop in The Street of The Four Winds * The Dollshouse * A Biblical quotation - Daniel 4:16 - "Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him." - this refers to the transformation of human cultists in the story. * Dolls * The use of characters from The King In Yellow as minor characters. * Feuding secret societies, one led by Montague. * A dangerous build-up of psychic energy threatening to derail history. * Montague is led (falsely, but plausibly) to believe that The Doctor is actually Nyarlathotep. * M.R. James briefly appears in the epilogue, in which he attempts to buy the Dollshouse. There is also information on the presence of The Cthulhu Mythos in The Overcity culture of the far future. In 1996, The Death of Art was released by Virgin Books.
