Leviathans
rdfs:comment
The leviathan is probably one of the worst nightmares living on Mars. This huge worm waits patiently beneath the surface until it detects nearby prey, sensing its vibrations through the ground. It then shoots violently out of the ground to attack with its many tentacles, before dragging the prey to its maw, to eat it. The only chance to win against this monster is to destroy the very tough, armoured maw, as severing single tentacles will simply cause them to re-grow. Leviathans are Dragons of the Sea (Or Sea Dragons). They are usually found in deep salt-water habitats. They are about 25 meters long, and serpentine in appearance with four stubby limbs that have powerful webbed claws. They do have opposable thumbs on their forelimbs, yet leviathans generally suffer poor manual dexterity. Leviathans can breathe water or air, with their long bodies moving swiftly and gracefully through water, yet slow and clumsily on land (Although, to date, a leviathan has not been seen on land). Leviathans heads are long and flat with powerful jaws and usually have a strip of long kelp-like hair along the dorsal ridge. Unlike their land-dwelling brethren, leviathan scales are small and fine, tending to be an iridescent blue-green color and being lighter towards the belly Leviathans are extraterrestrial cybernetically-enhanced serpent-like slaves and warships for the Chitauri that are connected to a Command Center. Not much about them is known, only that they are beasts which aid the Chitauri during their attempted invasion of Earth. The Leviathans (also called The Old Ones, Chompers, or Levis for short) are primordial beings that served as God's very first beasts. Thus, they predate angels, humans, and the soul itself. The creatures proved to be too hungry and destructive, so God created Purgatory and locked them inside. They were inadvertently released when Castiel opened Purgatory and absorbed all the souls inside in order to defeat Raphael.

Leviathan

Long before God created angel and man, he made the first beasts -- the Leviathans. I personally found them entertaining, but he was concerned they'd chomp the entire petri dish, so he locked them away. Why do you think he created Purgatory? To keep those clever, poisonous things out. "Well, consensus is they're like shapeshifters, only a lot more into eatin' folk, and nothin' can kill 'em." The leviathan was one of the largest worms on Mars. It normally lived just under the surface of the desert landscape, dormant and unmoving. When it sensed prey through surface vibrations, its maw and tentacles would suddenly break through to the surface. Its meal was grabbed by the highly mobile tentacles and dragged to the maw, which digested the food. While it was possible to destroy individual tentacles, the only way to stop a leviathan was to kill the maw.

n8:abstract
The leviathan is probably one of the worst nightmares living on Mars. This huge worm waits patiently beneath the surface until it detects nearby prey, sensing its vibrations through the ground. It then shoots violently out of the ground to attack with its many tentacles, before dragging the prey to its maw, to eat it. The only chance to win against this monster is to destroy the very tough, armoured maw, as severing single tentacles will simply cause them to re-grow. Only well-equipped adventurer parties can survive an encounter with one of these horrors. Even worse, the leviathan can appear anywhere on the surface of Mars. Leviathans are extraterrestrial cybernetically-enhanced serpent-like slaves and warships for the Chitauri that are connected to a Command Center. Not much about them is known, only that they are beasts which aid the Chitauri during their attempted invasion of Earth. Unlike their land-dwelling brethren, leviathan scales are small and fine, tending to be an iridescent blue-green color and being lighter towards the belly and darker towards the spine. Upon their release, the Leviathans attempted to conquer the North America and place themselves as the new dominant species on the planet, subsequently harvesting the human race as their primary and abundant food source while eliminating all other competitors and threats to their food. This attempt to subjugate mankind was thwarted through the combined efforts of hunters, angels, demons and even monsters but was ultimately stopped by Dean Winchester and Castiel after they managed to defeat the Leviathans leader and architect of their plan: Dick Roman. According to Crowley the Leviathans themselves disbanded after Dick's death and are scattered but their actual fate is unclear.
