Carolyn "Cal" Cafarelli is a forensic technician with the Los Angeles Police Department. In September of 2006, she was assigned to the exhumation of Marie Gesto in Beachwood Canyon. She was part of a team who accompanied serial killer Raynard Waits to the burial site and was present when Waits escaped custody. She was later assigned to the multiple burial site where Waits hid other victims and was himself killed by Detective Harry Bosch. She refused to let Bosch take his cell phone from the scene because it was against regulations.
