Gaelic is one of the two official languages of Ireland, and thus one of the official languages of the Colbert Report. Dr. Colbert's Irish heritage means he is already fluent in the language without even realising it; he already has all the necessary knowledge located in his gut to converse with any native speaker of Gaelic (especially since they all speak English anyway). The Gaelic language has been in decline as a spoken everyday language for some time now, but once it receives the Colbert bump it will once again be the common language of all the people of Ireland. Many of the Irish members of the Colbert nation hope that one day He will visit our green land, for he will surely be capable of bringing peace to the North. Two well known forms of Gaelic language were Scottish Gaelic (from Scotland) and Irish Gaelic (from Ireland, often referred to simply as the Irish language or Irish). It was first invented as a communication device for the sheep, goats and other such creatures in Ireland.
