Spike Balls are weapons or projectiles used by enemies in the Nintendo Land attraction: Pikmin Adventure. Enemies seen shooting Spike Balls include Telescoping Pumphog and Bilious Bulborb. The Greater Studded Beeb has spike balls for hands. The Spike Ball is a Ball in Head Soccer A Spike Ball is a dungeon trap on a chain which acts like a flail. Only the ball does damage, so they can be avoided by standing at the origin of the ball (as shown in the picture) and allowing it to swing around you until you can jump past it, continuing through the dungeon. After appearing they constantly swing in a circle, and are able to move through blocks. The length of the chains they spawn on is randomized. The Spike Ball is immortal, like the Blazing Wheel and can not be broken or picked up by removing blocks at the base. It can randomly despawn/respawn off-screen at any time. It is intially a small yellow ball covered in small bumps, however when Nine bounces it, it expands, turns black and spikes explode from the bumps. Nine cannot control the spikes but can usually control the color. This is first seen in the abandoned house in West Virginia when Nine and Four are investigating their chests. It explodes and Four has to roll out of the way to avoid being impaled. Nine later uses it to blast open a door leading into the Dulce govenment base in New Mexico. Spike Ball, also known as Spike Rope (スパイクロープ Supaiku Rōpu?) in Japan, is the special Weapon that Mega Man X gains from defeating Axle the Red in Mega Man X5. Its standard shot consists of X shooting out a green thorny ball of vines that goes a short distance before returning to him. Charged up, X shoots out a purple spiked ball that ricochets across the screen four times (regardless of terrain) before leaving the screen.
