Roger Thackery is the leader of the Virtual Adepts and represents them on the Council of Nine Mystic Traditions. He rose to the leadership position in 1941 shortly after former leader James Peritone was killed, and immediately lead the Adepts in a secret campaign against the Nazis in defiance of the rest of the Technocracy. He later oversaw the Adepts' defection from the Technocracy and negotiated, with the help of the Sons of Ether, for their admission to the Traditions.

Thackery currently resides full-time in the Digital Web, visiting other realms only by hologram. His former apartment, nicknamed Crashspace, serves as the Adepts' dedicated sub-realm in the Council Chambers.
