The Dorvain General Election, 1846 was held on the 27th May 1846 to elect the Thirteenth Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 125 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. Thomas Cameron decided not to seek a third term, but didn't resign as Prime Senator until after the result of the election in order to make his successor John Stanley look fresher. Martin Simpson remained on as the Democrats leader. The main issue in this election was again the matter of tariffs, with the Royalists supporting free-trade whilst the Democrats favored protectionist policies. The campaign was fought more passionately than in the previous election, leading to somewhat a shift in constituencies party loyalties. The result was a minor loss for the Royalists, who managed to hold onto their majority.
